Subtracting $254.55  (the talance on hand at the >)eginning of the litrary year)  from $1,487,20, we have $1,232.65 as the total amount raisftd for the current year.  Of this anount the sum of $916.15 ves raised "by general  subscription,  as per accomp&iying list of   subscribers and amounts paid by ea<*;  and the sum of $316,50 by special entertainments etc.   ,  es follows!  Schubert Concert $26.80 Carnival Weshinpton's Birthday $116,85;    Booster Banquet $46,oo; Baneflt Ball-g^ne $83,oo; Miss Cobb's Recital $6.75;  and from the sale of books,  catelOEues etc.   $39.10.
It will be observed that the s^in of    $418.71    was expended upon new books and freight on same,  which is about 404 of total expenditure for the year.    Compared with other libraries this percentage of Bjtpensc for    new books in a creditable showing.
